Let it Roll

Prepare your self for a rant.

On the K3 the other night I managed to get a seat, the seat where you’re most likely to be killed – right behind the driver. We stopped outside the Kingston University and a wave of people flood the bus. In amongst this tide were a large amount of elderly people, who all got seats and one obese, middle aged, woman who tottered about the luggage carrier. As soon as she got on the bus and her over weight (but not quite obese) friend sat in the second most likely seat to be killed in I debated whether to offer her my seat.

I have been scolded before, for not giving people I have little or no respect for seats, and it was embarrassing to say the least having the whole bus watch you cringe under the wrath of an 80 year old – who has obviously never gone near a toothbrush. This woman was very large and could probably squish me and I did not want to anger her but she could have have sat in the disabled seat, instead of rolling her eyes at me. What drove me to the decision not to give her my seat was that the exercise might do her some good. A little bit of bus surfing has been known to improve your respiratory rates, and get your pulse racing. Also it was quite enjoyable watching her roll down the K3 like that boulder from Indiana Jones.

End of Rant.

(Yes, I realise I probably over reacted, this was written at 11.00 last night.)
